Had my monthly injection yesterday and in the week I'm due I can feel much more anxious and depressed and tired as my body must need it . I still feel like this for a few days after my injection then I come round a bit . I am spending more and more time in the house and not feeling motivated to go out at all . This is worrying me . Anyone else like this ? I have all my stuff for self injections but because of my low mood I don't feel confident in giving it to myself ! But maybe that's my answer ? I don't know , I'm so confused and floundering . I don't know wether I need to ask for antidepressants or something for the anxiety ? Or go with the injections. I'm spending too long worrying about it and floundering . Please advise if anyone else is on extra medication or if the injections helped with this ?

Does anxiety and depression get better with self Injections
You need to find out how often you need to inject by perhaps injecting daily at first . If that does the trick , try every other day and so on . I landed on weekly injections to keep me feeling well all the time. We are all different . Do not forget to take folic acid supplements . I take 400ug a day .
You will get there . You cannot overdose on B12 , so don’t worry about that!
Don’t despair ! 👍👍👍
Thank you wedgewood . Had a horrible nurse last month and she must have done something h to my arm when injecting . It was v painful at the time and still is . I think this has made me afraid re si but I am getting more and more down and anxious about every little thing . I know I can feel better as when I had loading doses I was the best I felt in years .
Even more reason to SI - you are then not at the mercy of grotty nurses!!
I've done over 1000 jabs and they are my lifeline! I find folate and potassium help my mood too - bug it might just be because they make the B12 work.
B12 works with all sorts of things so you may benefit from a broad spectrum multivitamin and mineral supplement plus extra folate, potassium, magnesium and iron.
You can Google these to find out how a deficiency and excess can affect you and what sources you will like.
Please ask again if you need more help.
Have you done your jab yet? 😃 x
Hi Andypandy30.....I too had extreme anxiety before I started injections. Currently 3x a week. It did improve after a couple of months but I still had some anxiety so I started a low dose of cipralex and it definitely helped. I felt improvement immediately.
Thank you beginner . Yes I think that's what I'm trying to work out . I remember feeling so good on my loading doses then felt my mood going down . I know other things can contribute to anxiety and depression but I really felt so much better in myself . X
Hi, I have been in your shoes! It’s horrible.... I have injected myself 6 times.... first one was very daunting.... second one not as bad.... 6th one was a piece of cake! It’s didn’t hurt as much in the thigh as others have said... once your through the first layer of skin you don’t feel it... you can also inject as fast or slow as you choose... trust me from experience it’s easier the more frequent you do it.... I was skeptical but it’s true after just 6 I don’t even flinch good luck
Yes they have made me feel less anxious so I beehive so
pet....you need more injections....I am now doing one a day and it took 5 months to see real improvement....met my sisters in the city last week for the first time since last July for dinner and even took a 3 hours bus journey to visit other family at the weekend....even two weeks ago I would not have been able to. It can take months and months to see improvement but more regular injections should deffo be the way forward. xx. J
