If it is specific to waking up in the morning then most likely explanation is that nerves are being deadened at a pinch point because of posture whilst you are sleeping.
There is a pinch point in the wrist - called the carpal tunnel (nerves travel through a collar of bone and ligaments in the wrist - if you have pinching there you can get numbness and also nerve pain all the way up the arm. There is a similar pinch point in the ankle - sometimes called the tarsal tunnel - again bones and ligaments in the ankle region,so it could be that, or it could be something in the lower back.
B12 may or may not play a part - if you have a degree of damage to the outer, insulating area of your nerves as a result of B12 deficiency that can take a very long time to heal. It would also make your nerves more susceptible to the effects of pinching.
Generally amending position with the wrists (avoiding bent wrists) is a lot easier than sorting out position with the ankle - which is designed to be bent. For me one ankle was more affected than the other due to damage from a fracture and I found that shifting to sleep with that foot flat on the floor helped ... and so did using some methyl B12.
However, it is possible that it isn't specifically B12 deficiency so I really would recommend that you mention it to your doctor and ask if you can be referred to a neurologist.
