Ferrous Fumarate - cause headache?

Hi All,

Quick question. I started on 2 of these table a day (1 morning, 1 afternoon) on Monday because of deficient ferritin levels.

Yesterday and today I’ve had a constant headache. Last night I fell asleep at 7-30 and didn’t wake til my alarm at 7am this morning.

Could this be the tablets or just coincidence? I don’t usually have these types of headaches.

Hi MelonJ headaches are not mentioned on the leaflet that would have come with the medication, however it does say "If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet".

My pack didn’t come with any leaflet or instructions. I’ll pop in to pharmacy on my way home.

I thought that was against the law?

Personally I've been on Ferrous Fumarate 210mg for more years than I can remember.

I am not a medically trained person but I've had P.A. (a form of B12 deficiency) for more than 45 years.

I was surprised too! My Dr told me to buy them and take 1 twice a day (cheaper than prescription).

She didn’t tell me how long for.

I bought over the counter at a pharmacy and they didn’t explain either.

I am hoping I won’t need to be on them long term but who knows what the Drs will suggest 😊
