Help GP won't give loading dose on a Saturday with very high resting heart rate

Just been diagnosed with pernicious anaemia b12 and folic acid. I'm am having my loading doses now, the consultant wants me to have these every second day and even had me go back to hospital for an b12 injection on Easter Sunday as my GP was closed. I am due today (Sat) but he says it can wait till Monday. I have zero faith in him after missing this for 14 months even though my sister has it and has the same GP. Is this safe to wait from Thursday's dose till Monday with a heart rate for 125 while resting. I am 36. Please help I am very worried

Hi area16rep whilst I agree that it is unfortunate that an interim injection falls at a weekend that must happen a lot with loading doses on alternate days but the delay won't do you any harm so please try to stress less and allow your heartbeat to slow down a bit.

Have you been given a folic acid supplement?

Please be assured that there is "life after P.A." as I've had it for more than 45 years and I'm still "clivealive" and over 75 and I had a 13 year wait to get a diagnosis.

It is not uncommon for some symptoms to appear to get worse before they get better as the B12 you are having injected starts repairing the damage done to your nervous system and your brain starts getting multiple messages from part of the body it had "forgotten about" or lost contact with.

I sometimes liken it to a badly tuned radio on which you have turned the volume up high trying to catch the programme you want when all of a sudden the signal comes in loud and clear and the blast nearly deafens you.

A lot will depend on the severity and longevity of your B12 deficiency as to how long before there is no further improvement or recovery.

Some symptoms will "disappear" quite quickly whereas others may take months or even years. There is no set timescale as we are all different.

I am not a medically trained person and I wish you well.

I can only agree with clivealive . Not having a B12 injection till Monday can do you no harm . I think your being so stressed and worried about it is doing you harm . Try to divert yourself in some way. A walk in the country does the trick for me . If you can’t walk just try to get outdoors . Don’t stay in . Very best wishes .
