Was wondering has anyone with iron deficiency here taken a liquid iron? Im now consuming floradix 20ml morning 20ml at night. Both with vit C 1000mg to aid absorption
My query is due to reading online that it takes 150-250mg per day to fix a deficiency im no good at math and online converter confuses me easily - having foggy brain due to anemia doesnt help either
So is 40ml per day enough (divided dosage) to fix my deficiency? To get it to optimal not just normal
Ive been taking it for 2 weeks and my skin still bruises easily... i will do blood test on the 8th but just wanted to be sure of the dosage... bottle didnt suggest for deficiency only for ‘good health’ purposes.
do i need more actually - at least for few weeks
Thanks in advance

Although this forum has anaemia in the title it is actually about a condition that inhibits the absorption of a particular vitamin B12, leading to B12 deficiency, which has a particularly type of anaemia as one of its symptoms. This absorption problem can also affect other vitamins and minerals, including iron so some members of this forum can also have iron deficient anaemia.
Thank you my doctor just asked me to eat more liver & spinach she doesnt even addressed on why its low. My iron and also ferritin are low below normal range.
I did a private lab test and my D level is very low. Im glad i took the test thanks to this forum’s suggestion.
Thanks for your kind explanation, will find another GP that’s willing to listen and help me.
if your GP is suggesting spinach for iron deficiency then that indicates that they don't really have much understanding of nutrition - brocoli would be much better as spinach has something in it that tends to inhibit your body absorbing the iron in it - good for folate though
The best sources of nutrients tend to be food - but if you have an absorption problem then you may not be able to get enough from food alone and need supplements.
I would ask your Dr to investigate why your iron and ferritin are so low. It is possible that you have a gut absorption problem such as Coeliac. Take a look at Coeliac UK website where the lots of information about it. Low Iron is a major symptom. There are other explanations for low iron but your Dr should be finding out why.
To improve iron levels - take iron at the same time as Vitamin C as this improves absorption and makes it more gentle on your gut. I am not sure if Floradix is sufficient to raise very low levels so I would ask your Dr or pharmacist as the others have suggested.
From my experience it can take several weeks to get iron and ferritin levels to increase sufficiently and it takes a few weeks after that for symptoms to improve so please be patient.
