Stopping supplements : Hi everyone,i... - Pernicious Anaemi...
Stopping supplements
Taking the supplements has raised your B12 levels. It can take a long time for some symptoms to improve once the deficiency is treated. There is no problem with high levels of B12, so you should keep taking them.
However, some people have problems with methylcobalamin. If that's what you're taking it might be worth seeing if you can get an alternative such as cyanocobalamin.
Hi! Since I had B12 level at 217 (range 190 - 990) I started taking sublingual B12 methylcobalamin but stopped after few days because I started having this dizziness (not vetigo) in my head and headaches at the back of the skull. Meanwhile I had also a shot with 500 ug cyano...but the dizziness is still there. Do you think that those B12 pills triggered this? I am also taking meds for anxiety (Seroxat, Anxiar and Rivotril) for 3 months now.
Somebody will have side effects but I think heavy doses are helpful.taking too much b12 supplements will gives us headaches as well but for some kind of people only.hope this helps.
Hi RaJender9666
It is also important that your Folate level is monitored as this is essential to process the B12 you are injecting.
There is a complex interaction between folic acid, vitamin B12 and iron. A deficiency of one may be "masked" by excess of another so the three must always be in balance.
Symptoms of a folate deficiency can include:
symptoms related to anaemia
reduced sense of taste
diarrhoea
numbness and tingling in the feet and hands
muscle weakness
depression
Folic acid works closely with vitamin B12 in making red blood cells and helps iron function properly in the body.
You cannot overdose on B12 as any excess to requirement is excreted via your urine so your levels at 700 are quite safe.
I am not a medically trained person but I've had P.A. (a form of B12 deficiency) for more than 45 years.
I wish you well

Supplementing my B12 got rid of my balance problems, but I developed balance problems later because I was hypothyroid. I discovered that hypothyroidism affects the fluid in the middle ear, and thus balance. The problem quickly resolved when I increased my does of dessicated pork thyroid hormone.
I would stay on the supplements. I was very low in B12 and Folate back in November. I started on high doses of Methyl B12 and Methyl Folate sublingual. I got some pretty bad side effects, but I was doing very high doses. I got my levels back up. My Dr told me that I was reacting to the high dose. I lowered it and am doing very well. I also added adenosyl B12, hydroxy B12 just to see how they work. I think I do better with them. It is better to be on the high side. I hope this helps.
