Teeth extraction and antibiotics

Hi all. Wondering if there is an issue with getting 3 teeth pulled and then taking an antibiotic while still in loading dose stage. I know to stay away from nitrous oxide but wasn't sure about any antibiotics. Also, is it best to do an injection before or after extractions? Injections are M, W and F every week. Any insight would be appreciated.

Why to stay away from nitrous oxide? Sorry I don't have any knowledge about it.

From what I've read it depletes b12.

actually it converts the B12 in your blood to inert forms of B12 that your body can't use.

I think antibiotics can affect stomach acid levels thus affecting B12 absorption via the digestive system but as you are having it injected directly into the bloodstream it shouldn't have an effect.

A more wise contributor in this community has written in the past "nitrous oxide is a super-oxidiser when it comes to B12 and converts it to a form that the body cannot use, so if you had an absorption problem and couldn't replace your the oxidised B12 with new B12 then it would be a permanent problem".

Again - you are having the B12 injected.

Perhaps you could ask your dentist's advice.

Thank you! I will avoid being sedated with nitrous oxide. They did mention that intravenous sedation was an option. Haven't heard that being a problem......have you? I am doing injections.

It's fifty-four years since I had all my teeth extracted by my then strong union dentist (he told me "one out - all out") so I don't know what the current practice is - sorry.

And what about antibiotics?

some antibiotics do seem to interfere with the metabolism of B12 but can't remember which ones off the top of my head. Pharmacist might be able to help.
