Hi, my husband recently just got surgery in his small intestine where the doctor need to cut his small intestine until it is very short around 80-85cm. Currently he is still recovering from the surgery, but he has a lot of symptoms including feeling tired, and unable to walk, always feeling full and a lot of other symtomps. His hb level is still very low at 12, he loses a lot of his blood during the surgey. He's infection in the liver and the blood is still very high. When i try to find information about his condition, most of the information will say that people with the same condition will suffer from b12 deficiancy, but when his blood test come out his b12 level is incredibly high > 2000. The doctor did not mention anything about the b12, i think because he expect it to be low but it is actually incredibly high which i read somewhere maybe an indication of liver or kidney disease. Any other member has expirienced the same condition?

He should be on B12 shots - if this is the case then it would explain the very high B12 test results - however, it is also true that high levels of B12 can be the result of liver and kidney problems - in the case of liver it seems to be the result of the damage resulting in the liver dumping its stores of B12 as a result of the damage.

Thanks for the very fast response,
no he's not on any b12 shots, that is why i started searching more information on why does he's b12 suddenly goes very high when with he's current condition it should have been low. And also on the surgery, he's getting 10bags of blood transfusion, so i don't know if it has something to di with it. I was hoping that this is just the recovery stage, but really worried with the blood test as my Doctor did not really explain a lot stuff probably because he does not want to get us worried when the diagnosis have not been made yet. Thank you for ur input and the article.
