B12 injections BIG improvement in energy levels. I had to decrease thyroxine supplementation!? Anybody? :)

Hi, I have taken 11 injections of B12 every other day. And I feel a huge improvement. I did not have so much energy for ages. I also had to lower my thyroxine. And I am little surprised because I had searched the internet to find anybody who had improvement of thyroid because of B12 supplementation. So I take the dose of thyroxine that I had taken years ago.

I also had so much energy that I wake up in the night. But I am OK during the day. I will try to check my thyroid again. ;).

I am so happy but also scared to be excited because it is only 20 days and I had an improvement after supplementing magnesium. I was 3 months of improvement and then the fatigue came back. I also little angry that I have wasted many years of my life - my symptoms were so bad that I could not work. My professional, social life was suspended and also I was a very passive mother. I am only proud of myself that I prioritised my children and husband. I am angry at doctors who did not check my IFA or my B12 level. Many of them just 'diagnosing' fibromyalgia and telling me that it is all in my head.

Have you posted on TUK?

in the last 5 years I've seen several posts by people who have had to adjust levothyroxine down as a result of starting on B12 injections. Not come across anything to say why this should be the case though it is possible that having enough B12 now means that some processes are running more efficiently.

Its easy to get angry at a missed diagnosis but please don't let it get in the way of celebrating and enjoying your health now that you have it back, and I hope it is a permanent solution.

Gambit62, yes I also think that B12 helps somehow. :)

My anger will not get in the way. It can be used to inform other people about condition :)

Thank you!

I have read posts that state once b12 injections began to monitor thyroid medications carefully due to the thyroid starting to function properly on it own.

Also once b12 injections are started, and methylation begins your body may use up its stores of folate and iron. Both folate and iron need to be monitored fairly regularly for first couple of months, then less frequently as you will have new healthy red blood cells in 90 to 120 days.

Im so excited for you. Best wishes.

Thank you for reminding about iron and folate.

Thank you for your wishes!
