I had a loading dose each week for one month, ending 2 months ago (the standard at our practice. The GP retested my B12 last week and it's sitting at 500. Does 500 sound correct in this situation? I get my next injection in a month. At least the GP is referring me to a haematologist (although she did say they're a funny bunch and might not want to see me at all...)

Q re levels after loading
levels post loading shots don't really mean a lot unless they are coming out very low - normal range just doesn't apply any more - what counts is symptoms.
where are you based - loading regime doesn't sound like UK.
Have you suggested to your GP that they take a look at the area of the PAS website aimed at helping medical practitioners understand the diagnosis and treatment of B12 deficiency better
pernicious-anaemia-society....
Thanks Gambit. I'm in Glasgow I had all the info queued up on my ebook, or so I thought, but no wi-fi at the surgery so I couldn't access it. I know she is aware of the PAS and she mentioned that she had some patients who required B12 more frequently. I'll wait and see if haematology will see me but if there's no joy or going to be a long wait then I'll print stuff out before next visit (that's assuming I remember - stupid foggy head)
