So just had my 2nd jab have to say i didn't fall asleep yesterday at my desk so defo felt a difference from the 1st jab. I have another symptom of bad reflux/indigestion & high blood pressure has anyone else with B12 deficiency/pernicious anemia have/had this?

I have to have a 24 hr monitor fitted to see whats happening ect.

Hi,

Some people experience a drop in potassium levels when first starting B12 injections.

Are your potassium levels being monitored?

See Side Effects in next link.

Hi, I have blood pressure problems, it's been high during my pregnancies over the past 5 years, and now it's crept up again so the neurologist had put me on beta blockers, I'm not sure if there is a link, tho GP hasn't found a cause for my high BP. Hope your injections are making you feel better, I've got one Friday (can't come quick enough I'm seriously exhausted) Xx

Your reflux and indigestion are symptoms of Autoimmune Metaplastic Gastric Atrophy (AMGA) which is the underlying cause of PA. As well as affecting B12 absorption, AMGA causes a lack of stomach acid. This hinders digestion of protein.

Your high blood pressure could be unrelated - like mine.

I am vomiting/regurgitating frequently too cos everything seems to irritate the acid, the reflux is causing me to cough constantly too...i hope some pills will sort it. Thanks for your comments your a gem xx

a PPI may help to resolve - presume that is the tablet you are referring to. As you are now getting your B12 from injections rather than your diet this won't affect your B12 further.

however, the symptoms of high stomach acidity are pretty much the same as those of low stomach acidity and your problem is more likely to be low stomach acidity rather than high stomach acidity for the reasons outlined by fbirder above. Many of us find that taking a small amount of something acidic helps.

My blood pressure went up after I started my loading doses. I was worried because I had never had high blood pressure before. My doctor told me that fixing my B12 deficiency was more important and that we would just monitor the blood pressure for a while. After my loading doses were finished my blood pressure went back down.
