I don't think it's something bad or that can be avoided. Some nurses who inject me get almost no blood, but MOST do and I almost always get a bandaid. But the bleeding usually stops fast. But I don't know that it's something you can really avoid, you're puncturing a muscle.

it means that you have hit a vein with the needle. You may notice a bruise in that area. I haven't yet found anything that is guaranteed to stop me hitting a vein and just accept it as something that will happen from time to time.

I thought i had hit a vein on the way in. Should i withdraw the needle and try a new site? or is it ok to inject into the vein?

unlikely that you will be injecting into the vein - more likely that you are injecting through the vein - this can be quite painful - but if it isn't then no real point to making more holes in your skin than you need to.

If you inject sub-cutaneously, this doesn't seem to be a problem.

Hi. When I have finished injecting and the syringe is empty, I wait a little while before taking out the needle, and withdraw it slowly. This generally means less bleeding. Worth a try!!
