Looking for good, pure multi-vitamins

Hello. I'm looking for suggestions for a good, pure multi vitamin brand. I need methylfolate as I have mutation for MTHFR. I have PA and self inject so it does not need b12. Thank you!

Just about everybody on the planet has a mutation in the MTHFR gene. The only mutation shown to have any possibility of a measurable effect is the C677>T mutation. And then only if you have two copies of it (about 9% of people). And most of those can get by without needing methylfolate.

That means that you may well benefit from methylfolate. I would take 400 ug a day of methylfolate and eat a balanced diet for the rest of the B vitamins.

Taking methylfolate instead so folic acid will not do any harm, apart from to your wallet as it tends to be a lot more expensive.

I switched to methylfolate (I'm also Homozygous for the C677>T mutation) just to see if it made me feel better.

some people with MTHFR actually report that methylfolate doesn't suit them. Have you tried folic acid and found that it doesn't work/makes you feel unwell.

because I have the genetic mutation I don't produce the enzyme necessary to complete the conversion of folic acid into 5-methyl folate. I assumed I wouldn't be able to take folic acid. I haven't tried the methylfolate yet. Just wondering if you know of a good brand of vitamin?

People with the C677> T mutation can still produce methylfolate - just not as efficiently as those without the mutation. People with one copy are about 80% efficient - which means they can function completely normally (the body just makes more of the enzyme).

People with two copies are about 30% efficient. Many of them function OK with folates from the diet. Some will benefit from taking methylfolate supplements.

pslmt - notice, looking back aty your posts that you seem to have tried methylfolate in the past and it didn't seem to agree with you

The vitamin I tried had other things in it as well, so I am not sure if it was the folate or was it the other ingredients that didn't agree with me. This is why I was looking for advice of a good multi vitamin brand. I would like to try methylfolate again but with a simple combination of other ingredients. Thanks.

any combination of ingredients and you aren't going to know if it is them or the methylfolate - would be better just to try methylfolate - I believe there were a few recommendations on your ealier post for that.
