Has anyone been to or used this service, I have (like just about everyone else) a totally useless GP and am struggling with so many symptoms that I tend to only disclose a couple at a time to him because I can see his eyes roll each time he sees me. Wondered if these people could help?

Geordi,

Sounds like you and I may be customers of the same "health factory."

Your doctor gets overwhelmed by your hitting him with so many medical protocols to deal with in his rationed 15 minute time with you, so you are wise to just ask 2 or max 3 questions from the top of your list (in sequence of importance to you); I do the exact same thing!

I have never heard of HDA but then that is probably because I am not a resident of the UK. If such an organization existed here in the U.S. I would probably not consider it very credible, whether it was non-profit or not. They must be limited to very generalized feedback based on statistical averages, which really does not work for individuals, as we are none of us a statistical average.

Hopefully you can find a real doctor who is capable of focusing on your particular needs; if that is possible under socialized medicine.

Hi,

I am also interested to hear if people on forum have been helped by HDA pct as I often give link to HDA pct website in my replies to posts.

HDA pct offer people in UK, the chance to see UK doctors/consultants for free, in the private health sector for second opinions on medical diagnoses and treatment. I believe a full medical history is required. HDA pct are usually quick to respond to enquiries.

I printed off a symptom list from one of the B12 sites and ticked all the ones I had. The conversation then went much better than trying to discuss each individual symptom for the entire appointment. And individually, the symptoms can easily be dismissed as anxiety or stress or age etc, whereas collectively as a list they indicate a syndrome. Warning - this doesn't work with all doctors, some find it annoying and won't read what you give them.
