See how you get on with three monthly jabs. If you feel symptoms returning before then use this as an excuse for more frequent jabs.

just as people vary a lot in how much B12 they need in their blood to be healthy people also vary a lot in how quickly they lose the B12 from shots. You don't say how long it was since the loading shots to the test result but the reduction in levels may be an indicator that you are one of those people who loses B12 very quickly and so needs top-ups more regularly.

Suggest that you keep a diary of symptoms and monitor if/when they return before the next planned maintenance dose.

My last injection was the 16th of January the biggest problem I'm still having is insomnia which I'm now being treated with antidepressents that I take at night

sorry - I wasn't clear - when was the blood test taken in relation to the last injection.

Are you taking SSRI's? In some people these can lower folate levels and as you need folate to process B12 it can cause problems if not supplementing folate.

I had my last injection on the 16th of January only had a blood test 2 weeks ago to check my levels iv been taking folic acid tablets since the end of December when I was first diagnosed with PA

thanks Newberryk - so that means that the test was a month after the loading doses finished.

I'd suggest you keep a diary of how your symptoms are going and think you will probably find that you need maintenance shots a lot earlier than 3 months - sounds like your GP is probably primed for this, though you may still have a problem getting maintenance shots more frequently than 2 months.

At this point it is symptoms rather than test levels that really count. If you are okay symptom wise at 600 then that is good but it also isn't uncommon for people to need to maintain their levels much higher than that.

Does any one else get painful feet

I have. It's getting better now. I try so many supplements, don't know really which one is helping me, I guse vit D. Now my big hope for low dose of naltrexson and b12 injections. For insomnia I use aminoacids bland at night, helps me a lot. When I sleep well, pain in my feet is much less.

Not what you're looking for?
