Hi all, I've just purchased B12 ampules reading to start SI. My surgery does IM jabs, but I will obviously need to do SubQ as can't reach my own arm to jab myself IM. Can anyone help me with finding the correct needles/syringes please. Thank you.

Hi Sarah, I can't help with that I'm afraid but am interested to know how you get on. My mum is booked in for a private jab today , we can't leave it any longer, but am looking at the s.i route for next time.

Good luck

IM doesn't need to be done into the arm it can also be done into the thigh muscles.

Subq is easier for a lot of reasons - this can be done into the fat around the stomach or into the fat in the thigh. Insulin needles are sufficient for subQ

Yes, get insulin needles. They're very fine and lubricated and your skin offers almost no resistance to them. I spoke to someone at b12d.org about subQ vs IM and was told it made no real difference.

I do my IM injections into my thigh.

When I self injected many years ago, I always used my thigghs, but it's important to remeber that you MUST alternate the site, so left le one time, right leg next time, but also a different area. The reason for this is because continuous needles into muscles can actually kill the muscles and cause a lot of damage. I inject insulin into my arms and I think I could do my B12 there too. But I must admit I'm a little nervouse about it. Lol
