Hello guys! Hope everyone is making progress with their journey to health.

I have had a hard few years since my last pregnancy and recently I decided to take more of an active role in my health journey. My last blood results came in and it seems as if I could have pernicious anemia. I am currently away from home for a while, my doctors asked for me to come in immediately but I was already away by the time I got the call.

I am hesitant to see a doctor here as health care is pretty costly. I would be happy to pay for supplements if possible.

My results are as follows-

Serum vitamin d (GTHOM)- abnormal 16

B12/folate level - abnormal 202

(180-1100.00pg/ml)

Serum folate- 2.8

(3.00-13.00ng/ml)

Serum ferritin- (GTHOM) - abnormal 7.3

(20.00-300.00ug/L)

Needs replacement

Thyroid function test- (GTHOM)- normal

Serum free T4 12.1

(10.30-24.50pmol/L)

Serum TSH level 1.14

(0.30-5.50mlU/L)

Serum cholesterol 4

(1.00-5.00mmol/L)

Serum triglycerides 1.5

(0.50-2.00mmol/L)

Serum HDL cholesterol level 1.3

(1.00-1.90mmol/L)

Serum LDL cholesterol level 2

(1.00-3.00mmol/L)

Total cholesterol: HDL ratio 3.08

Non HDL level: 2.7

Anyone has similar results? What diagnosis did you recieve and what kind of treatment was recommended?

Much thanks everyone

your vitamin D and your folate are both in the deficient range - your B12 is also probably deficient and your ferritin is very low indicating that you probably have an iron absorption problem.

Treatment for B12 absorption problems is injections - exactly how depends on symptoms.

You are probably feeling very ill. You definitely need treatment.

TUK forum can provide support on thyroid and whether levels are correct - see from your profile that you are also a member of that forum.

You say you are a new member of the society - does that mean that you have actually joined the PAS or that you are new to this forum. membership of the PAS itself can provide access to more specific support

"I would be happy to pay for supplements if possible."

The problems with supplementing B12 before you have a diagnosis, is that it can make it very difficult to get a diagnosis of B12 deficiency.
