Could a gone please advise me the best blood tests to have done.

I am fighting my GP over the change to sublingual tablets for my PA ( the script for my tablets now says b12 deficiency where it used to say PA be t to my injection )

I feel very ill recently, since change to tablets b12 and had to high dose with my own injections to be able to function.

Because I also have Ms and am Hypothyroid my symptoms can overlap.

I would really like to get another full set of blood tests done now that I am able to think straight again but not sure which company and tests to have.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Surely ellj if you have been diagnosed with P.A. that's it for life and if you do have P.A. tablets will of no use at all.

Are you in the UK?

people get tests done privately at St Thomas's in London - used to require a doctors referral but believe this is no longer the case.

As on TUK some people also use companies like Blue Horizons

However, problems with the tests as tools for seeing what is happening with B12 tend to mean that they aren't as propular here as they are on TUK.

At this stage you are probably looking for someone who can offer MMA and homocysteine, and may be active B12 rather than serum B12.

Have you considered talking to PAS (Pernicious Anaemia Society)?

PAS tel no +44 (0)1656 769 717

Are you UK based?

UK b12 treatment specifies lifelong injections for PA. Details Of Uk B12 treatment can be found in .....

1) BNF (British National Formulary)

evidence.nhs.uk/formulary/b...

2) BSH Cobalamin and Folate Guidelines, about a quarter through document.

b-s-h.org.uk/guidelines/ click on box that says "Diagnosis of B12 and Folate Deficiency" should be on page 3 or put "cobalamin and folate guidelines" in search box.

Do you have any of your old scripts? Have you considered getting hold of a complete set of your medical records?

nhs.uk/NHSEngland/thenhs/re...

If you are UK based then the NHS summary record may not have all your medical info.

If you are USA based, there is a USA B12 website

b12awareness.org/

The PAS has members from around the world and I think there are 2 local PAS support groups in USA.

MMA/homocysteine/active B12

The results of these tests may be influenced if a person has supplemented with b12 recently.
