CIRROSIS: HI IM JACKIE IM NEW TO THIS... - Pernicious Anaemi...
CIRROSIS
Hello Jackie,
Glad to hear your health is improving and good luck continuing the changes that have helped you.
Just two bits of advice...
Firstly, this forum is for people with Pernicious Anaemia and/or Vitamin B12 deficiency. I know that cirrhosis can cause such a deficiency. Have you had your B12 tested? Are you being treated for a B12 deficiency?
Secondly, on Internet forums it's considered a bit rude to post in all caps as it's taken as being similar to shouting in spoken conversation. It also makes the text much more difficult to read. No problem this time, but you may like to bear it in mind in the future.
Hi Jackie. First of all can I say how impressed I am that you've managed to stay drink free for a year and seven months 😀. I had a life-long alcoholic mother so I know how much courage, strength and determination it will have taken you to get this far.
As fbirder says, this forum is for people with B12 deficiency and pernicious anaemia and it is recognised used that cirrhosis can cause depletion of vitamin B12. If you think this may be a problem, you could checkout the PAaS pinned posts to the right of this page when you logon. The second post contains a symptoms checklist and the rest of the posts contain information about B12 deficiency and PA that will give more information for,you to consider if you think you have B12 deficiency.
Whilst we people here may be able to sympathise with your position we probably don't have the kind of knowledge or experiences that would help you most.
I've checked out the Health Unlocked site and there are two forums where you may better find the kind of support you're looking for, namely Liver4Life and British Liver Trust...and the may be others that would I treat you (you can search the site by clicking the tab 'my communities'.
I wish you the very best of everything and please do post again if,you think we people can help you.
Good luck 👍😀
THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY.YES I DO HAVE A VITIMAN B DIFICIENCY AS A RESULT OF MY ADDICTION AND LIVER PROBLEMS THATS WHY WAS ON THIS FORUM IM ON. B12 MEDS LONG TERM AND RECENTLY HAD A2 WEEK COURSE OF INJECTIONS. AGAIN THANKS
Hi Jackie , I'm not in your situation but had an alcoholic father who died at 69 of multiple health issues. He tried and tried to give up but never lasted as long as you. He stopped drinking about 6 months before he died as strangely he just went off it, but it was all too late . My thoughts are with you, just carry on taking on day at a time xxxx
Thank you for your reply hedgehog2893, Im sorry to hear about your father. i was very lucky to have survived this being that I was end stage liver failure but im thankful for this , and as you say a day at a time, the difficulty is my husband likes an occasional drink and i find that hard that I cant have one, but then with me i know i just cant and that occasional for me would never be enough anyway. It helps to be in contact with people who have some insight about this problem, was your father diagnosed with liver problems? Its so sad that he was able to stop but didnt survive My thoughts are with you too xx.
