My b12 has gone from 126 down to 86 and back to 142 in a month .dr still not treating me as he says over 100 is normal depending on which scale you use.He is now saying it's dodgy lab results and doing full retest tomorrow, any clues?

All of those results are LOW , especially so if you have any B12 deficiency symptoms . Symptoms should be treated not test results , anyhow.

Have loads of symptoms that's why I went in first place.mostly tiredness ,achy legs with fluttery feelings in them and recently urgency of urine, but he's not having it without more tests

The delay without getting any treatment is worse than irresponsible!

The mean result from your 3 test is 118 that is very low. Do you have the reference ranges for you lab, get them today ask the nurse who draws the blood ask the receptionist for a print out they cannot refuse. Tell them you are worried your dr is deliberately not treating you and keeping you ill.

I've looked at local guidelines. They say 85-115 treat immediately, and for life 115-150 with symptoms treat and assess for improvement. Must use different scale to all others

Hi Wongy215. Local guidelines are often out of date - the ones my surgery uses are dated 2005! Might be worth printing off more current guidelines (contained in the pinned posts on the home page of this site) and showing to,your GP.

Your B12 is low and you need treatment. Your GP is not treating you in accordance with current guidelines and this failure to treat is doing you harm and is negligent.

You may have to be very persuasive as for some unknown and very bizarre reasons, many GP's are hostile to giving B12 injections where an obvious deficiency exists.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks .after taking more blood I asked his reasoning behind not giving me treatment and told him I'd read current protocol and redceited it to him telling him the highest of the 3 is still low enough to need treatment if symptomatic, surprise. ...he decided to start injections today. Thanks to everyone for advice hoping for some improvement soon.😃
