Hi everyone, I went to opticians yesterday and instead of half an hour test, my test lasted over an hour. They did tests that I've never had before.
Well as I knew I've lost over 50% of my sight in my right eye as I tripped over the kerb about 10+ years ago and damage my eye, I've scarring at the back of my right eye and a bit of grit which they couldn't get out as it too far back.
Now my left eye is bad, they told me that I have a haemorrhage at the back of my left eye which is causing me problems with my sight as well as headaches now and again. I told them I'm seeing like orbit around objects which they have told me are floaters!!! They have sent an urgent request to my local hospital for them to see me and said I should hear from the hospital Tuesday or Wednesday.
I'm scared and worried as now I''ve something else to worry about. Also I'm just wondering if it could be related to being b12 definicity as I've read being b12 definicity can cause eye problems. Any advice will be helpful as the optician was saying that it serious. ☺☺☺😢😢😢😢

The usual link between B12 and eye problems is glaucoma.
You do have other options - you could just go down to A&E - and if it was that urgent then I am sure that is what the optician would have told you to do. It is still an option.
Some people don't take eye problems seriously which is probably why the optician was emphasising that it was serious but if they didn't send you directly to A&E it would imply that it isn't critical. You could try ringing and asking to speak to an optician and ask them more about it and get them to explain why it was a referal for a day or two rather than going directly to A&E, explaining that you are feeling very anxious about things and would like a little more advice. I am sure that they wouldn't mind.
Thanks Gambit62 for your reply. Whats wrong with me is me and eyes dont mix. WhenI damaged my right eye I fainted. As for hospitals, Im getting better about them. I have a bit of a phobia about them as when I had bladder cancer yrs ago, the doctor was nasty and kept saying it was my fault . She reduced me to tears. Shortly afterwards she got fired as she had upset quite a few people. Thanks again, I just need to toughen up a bit. ☺☺
I have had a chronic autoimmune problem in both my eyes since I was fifteen, when my right eye hemorrhaged in the retina. It was due to the inflammation so all they could do was stop the inflammation which involved steroid injections in the eyeball itself.
But my problem is different than yours- my brother had a hemorrhage in his eye a few years ago and I can't remember how they treated it-with laser maybe? But from my understanding of all things eye related, it is not an uncommon occurrence.
I also have tons of floaters which is not harmful but annoying.
My eye problems started 40 or more years before I became B12d and my brother is not B12d, so I agree with Gambit62 that it very likely has nothing to do with B12.
Getting more information about what is going on with your eye would probably do a lot to allay your fears. After a hemorrhage, the blood is absorbed back into the system. I guess the main thing is to find out why it bled, but sometimes, as in my brothers case, they don't know.
As a person who has dealt with eye issues my whole life, I understand your concern. But they can do amazing things with eyes these day!
Hope you get some answers soon so you don't have to worry. Best wishes,xx
Thank Ndodge for your reply, I think what is wrong with me is me and eyes don't mixed, when I damaged my right eye, I fainted. When my daughter's needed drops in their eyes when they were young, I had to get my neighbour to put them in for me. ☺
A friend of mine had a haemorrhage detected during an opticians visit. She was referred to her GP who put her on statins, saying it was due to high cholesterol. She went back to the optician recently for another test and it had cleared completely.
Hi Bentlyboo...my goodness, you are going through the a rough patch!
I also don't like eye 'things', so know exactly how you feel.
Know very little about eyes so just wanted to say hope things go well with the hospital today or tomorrow.
The only thing I would say is that if it gets worse whilst waiting, I'd pop along to A & E....but usually only the larger hospitals have facilities for eye casualties.
