Yes, I had the same when I found out about PA . My gastroenterologist told me that PA patients have low or no stomach acid ( hypochlorhydria or achlorhydria) This means that bad bacteria in your stomach can proliferate and make gas by fermentation, resulting in bloating . I also had stomach ache nauseous refluxand awful burping for the same reason . I took a water based probiotic called Symprove for 3 months then for a further 2 on half dose .A great help was organic raw unpasteurised sauerkraut ,which I try to take on a daily basis now that I have discontinued Symprove . Now that my gut flora is balanced it has made all the difference in the world . Also helpful is organic cider vinegar with mother , diluted obviously . Some people take Swedish bitters before meals or lime juice , In extreme cases ,there are betaine hydrochloric acid with pepsin capsules which help to digest protein in the absence of stomach acid .. The NHS has no treatment for ,Achlorhydria . Only for high stomach acid which is often mistaken for low stomach acid as there are similar symptoms sometimes ! So do get some form of probiotic . Best of all make your own organic sauerkraut . There are a greater variety and greater numbers of probiotics in it than in anything else you can buy., ! Very best of luck !

Exactly the same symptoms here jillc39. Diagnosed with achlorhydria and gastric paresis. Following advice given by wedgewood (as above), fbirder , Gambit62 , Polaris and others. Early days, but I've noticed some improvement. And some shrinkage!

Good luck.

Just to be on the safe side, if this continues please see a GP or gynecologist. I don't want to frighten you or anyone else, but a distended abdomen can be a sign of ovarian cancer. Most symptoms of this disease are difficult to identify until it has progressed quite a ways.

Best,

Leilani

thank you all - \I will try to add this to the many things I want to talk about when I see the head hp on Monday. I am taking my daughter along for support.

Wedgwood what is cider vinegar with mother? Is that a misprint or is it the actual name? I bloat up dreadfully throughout the day have done for years, diagnoses PA 2005 but present doctor won't treat me, now waiting for neurologist, been waiting 4 months so far!!

I take Enzyme Digest, it has peppermint oil, HCl and digestive enzymes. It is very gentle and has worked miracles for me. Available at H & B.
