A different test for Pernicious Anaemia?

This paper is from 2004. A cancer marker was found to show up in 100% of the patients tested who had pernicious anaemia and reduced to normal levels after treatment. Never seen this discussed since but maybe it could be a useful test?

Nice find!

It does seem that they believe it may be related to macrocytic anaemia so I'm not sure how useful it would be as a general test for PA. But it certainly looks to be something worth pursuing.

I assume they only tested it on those with macrocytic anaemia - it would clearly need a larger trial to see whether those with low B12 without anaemia also had the marker. The fact that some of them still had higher levels of the marker after treatment and after their anaemia had been reversed suggest that it might?
