I receive mine from the pharmacy as one unit. I have also ordered on line and purchased them as a single disposable unit
Here in the USA when you order syringes they come with needles. One time use only - both for needle and syringe.
Peggy,
Try to find out if your Unisharp needles need to be used with a syringe that has a Luer-Lock twisting fit, or whether they can be pushed straight into the syringe without twisting. I'm trying to help you with this question but you can also look for the manufacturer's website and see if answer is there.
You may as well buy your syringes in 2ml/cc or 3ml/cc size as you will probably be using 1ml of B12, and that allows for handling the syringe more easily without worrying about the plunger backing out too far, etc.
After you use these up you may want to buy syringes that have the needle accompanying them. This is something I've posted in past:
I'm in US and order B12, cyanocobalamin, from Canadian site. I can definitely recommend their products and service:
Buy-Otc.com
I also buy their syringes with needles attached: BD 3 ml Syringe, Luer-Lok Tip with BD PrecisionGlide Needle. 25G (gauge) x 1in (0.5mm x 25mm)
I'm a retired RN and was happy to see BD as they have been around forever and are considered a reputable company, as is Cytex, the maker of the cyanocobalamin. (You may be using different form of cobalamin, such as hydroxy) It comes in 10ml multiple dose vial/bottle with rubber stopper under the cap. 1000mcg/ml, for Intramuscular or Deep Sub-Q Injection.
I have self injected into thigh and these needles are slick...barely knew it was in! Using multi-dose B12 eliminates the need to break glass vial and potential cuts.
Best wishes, Leilani
I've not come across Unisharp needles before but the blurb says they have the standard luer slip fitment so any luer slip compatible syringe should fit. Try these 2ml BD ones assuming you are in the UK:
Must run now but for more information you could look up my profile and see my post "My Experiences". I keep it updated and have just bought needles and syringes, etc.
Good luck.
