Heat intolerance

Hey guy's! I'm going on vacation soon and with it being hot as hell out I was wondering if any one else used a wheelchair? I have a intolerance to heat it gets to the point I do pass out or have seizures from it. So I think getting a wheelchair is the best idea since I'll be out in the heat for a long period.

can't help with the wheelchair but do have a tip for coping with heat - get a cotton scarf - run it under water and then wrap it round your head - the water slowly evaporates, cooling the head slightly ... basically its a slightly more fashionable version of that old seaside favourite - the knotted hanky!

Hope that you have a good holiday

I experience alot of breathlessness after walking awhile especially in heat. Main reason I asked about a wheelchair. I know a few with b12 who use them was going to see if anyone else did :/

Lightweight clothing, and carry a spare set so you can change if you get too hot or wet. Possibly a towel on the seat to absorb and stop some of the skin on plastic sweating. Keep your hair away from your neck as much as you can. If you have a fridge/freezer where you are staying put a water bottle in the day before to cool/freeze to use on hands, feet or neck as a cooling technique.

Enjoy your holiday🌍

My legs get weak after walking so long in heat and I still develop anaemia breathlessness main reason I was concerned with getting a wheelchair :/

For my outings I use a rollator -- the Drive Duet Rollator -- that converts easily to a transport chair. If I get dizzy away from home, very simple conversion, and my husband can then push me along. The Drive Duet also has wheel diameter larger by a bit than most others, so it makes for a smoother go on bumpier terrain such as pebbly concrete or pebbly asphalt paving.

For heat management, keep well hydrated, and best also to keep yourself shaded, whether in shadows or by your own sensible hat and other clothes. Loose, lightweight, light-colored clothes are best, especially of cotton or rayon gauze, of silk, or of linen. Best not to move around so much in the heat, especially hot sunshine.

Most wheelchairs have black nylon webbing and/or black vinyl around the user. Any other color/s and any other than standard design (standard features) costs a great deal more. If you plan to sit in any wheelchair for some extended time, you will want a very good cushion.

Just to mention that some years ago I was intolerant to heat and breathless and that was because my thyroid had become overactive. Has yours been checked lately if this is a recent thing for you?

Hi, it sounds as if you are very concerned about the possibility of needing a wheelchair. Go ahead and get one and if you need it you will have it, if you don't need it, you don't have to use it. Have fun on your vacation!
