Hi there can anyone tell me if I can buy B12 over the counter so I can inject myself ? I currently have 5 vials in the house that my nurse gave me home ? I certainly can't wait 3 months between injections.

Uk based people can only get tablets, spray or drops otc. Injections of hydroxo need to be sourced from Germany. B12.org will often supply methyl to inject if you meet their criteria and are prepared to offer a donation.

Looking at your other posts you have a lot going on, especially if they are confirmed diagnosis's, it might be best if you can get your gp to take another look at how you are being treated, you never know you might get the frequency increased.

How often was your initial treatment? I couldnt see it in previous postings. Do you know what your level of b12 was too.

I don't know my levels ? All my doctor said is they were extremely low as my vitamin d level & iron even though I self diagnosed myself with anemia and was supplementing myself with ferrous iron every day, I've had the initial 3 injections a week plus 2 - 3 monthly injection's, I was absolutely crawling before my last injection :( my rhemo told me I need to accept my fibromaligia & M.E diagnosis because my GP has told her I'm not happy with that, after all it took me going to see him when I had a full lupus butterfly rash on my face plus feeling terrible and going yellow a few days later & also had blood in my urine, my GP did say to me that I was right there was something going on in my body that had been missed but again how many years do I have to lose to illness, so fed up

Hi, I'm sorry you are going through all this. Doctors over the years have suggested I had ME, then MS, then lately Parkinson's, before setting on fibromyalgia. They also used to say depression as well. I wasn't depressed, just like you are now, unhappy and fed up of being ill.

I started by taking Jarrow's sublingual lozenges at 5000mg, and they helped alot, although I was taking up to 10 a day in the end as they wore off quickly. I now self inject on a weekly basis but still find I need about 2 lozenges a day.

You must get all your blood test results from your doctor, you are entitled to them. Some make a small charge for printing although mine didn't. There are several members on here who have posted where you can buy it. If you look through the posts from wedgewood I'm sure you'll find it. There are others too.

Sorry, I get mine from the charity so far and buy fixed needles/syringes from medisave. The weekend tends to be a bit quiter on here so from tomorrow you should get more answers on where to buy it. Has your folate been tested? If that's not optimal your b12 injections won't be so effective I believe.

By the way, I no longer get the fibromyalgia symptoms so think this was a misdiagnosis which is common.

I hope you get sorted soon. :-)

That should be 5000 mcg!

Hello Jacqui0x. I'm really sorry your having such a terrible time. So much misdiagnosis. But I know exactly how you feel, because it happened to me.

Sorry, I have to be quick so, to answer your question:

You can get Methylcobalamin from IntraVita Ltd. Telephone 07539 109263 or email nicola@intravita to order. They sell 1mg or 5mg ampoules and also adenosylcobalamin and cyanocobalamin. They don't currently sell Hydroxocobalamin but I believe they may plan to in the future. They will email you a price list if you email or give them a call.

I get my hydroxocobalamin from mycare.de (they have English translation pages). I pay by PayPal and delivery is very quick.

I ge needles, syringes, alcohol wipes and a sharps box from medisave.co.uk or exchange supplies.org.

Hope you begin to feel much better very soon...going in the right direction is a good start.

Take care.

Hi - sorry to hijack the post - thanks for the amazing info (this site is so brilliant) do you use both the methyl and hydroxy injections ? If so do you find one more helpful than the other .?

Many thanks

Hi Welshbird. I've been using Hydroxocobalamin for the last four years but still have neuro symptoms so I'm adding in Methylcobalamin as a trial (it's supposed to be more successful for some people with neuro symptoms). It you use Methylcobalamin and no Hydroxocobalamin, then I've read here that you also have to add a bit of adenosylcobalamin (your body needs methyl and adreno, gets both from hydroxocobalamin, but only gets methyl from Methylcobalamin. To do with the methylation process but have no time to explain now, sorry).

I'm afraid that there are no hard and fast rules about what 'works'. It's very much about what works for the individual and trail and errors seems to be the order of the day.

Hope you work out something that suits you.

Take care.

P.s. Best not to add or try too many things at the same time 'cause then it's difficult to know what's working. Introduce selectively and keep a log of symptoms is best way to identify what's working.

P.p.s hijacking posts is good - means we all get more information and views!

I thought this might help some people. I get my B12 injections from VitaminB12online.com they delivery worldwide and they have all types of B12. I have been using them for over a year and the owner is a B12 deficiency patient. Would rather spend my money helping a fellow patient than large cooperates. She was also a wealth of knowledge on injecting questions I had when I first started injecting.

Thank you so much, I'm sitting here suffering badly as my next injection isn't due till the 29th even though I'm sitting with 5 vials of B12 that the nurse gave me home, a mistake on his part as I nearly put the box in the bin when he gave me it back thinking he just wanted me to dispose of the rubbish, something made me check, I'm really tempted to go & buy needles and inject myself ! This 3 month is absolutely ridiculous, although I have other illnesses I feel this wait is making us suffer more and its unfair :( thank you so much for the information I'm.definitely going to have a look especially at how to inject myself x
