Hi All. Thanks for helping me out till now earlier i had to have b12 level around 15o . But after loading injections at interval this has been reached to 550. but i have the same symptoms as they were earlier , worst thing added is i got acne and marks on my for- head and losing hair Rapidly.
when i get tested today i found my Haemoglobin higher (17.7 ) , Higher RBC(5.96),Higher Haematorcit(50.2), Higher MCHC% (35.3). does these result really indicates to gets worried about it or should i ignore?
this time i really confused what should i do because it took around 1.5 years to coverup B12 but now symptoms are not in favour and worst thing skin problem i got . Please suggest .
I am an 23 indian guy and do look like a 30-32 because my skin got ruptured. and conditions are getting worst . i used to be very handsome but not now ..

Hi, I'm 26 and took the b12 injections (started the loading doses) after 3 injections, within 48 hours my face exploded with severe acne. I was told to stop taking the b12 injection and now I'm just using Skinoren (acne cream) and washing my face twice daily. I've also been prescribed anti histamines although I'm unsure how well it's going to work.
I think the loading dosage is obviously too high for you if it's causing severe acne and hair loss, but you should speak to your doctor. I don't think anything is worth going through if it gives you severe reactions/side effects.
Plus, there are always alternatives - like oral supplements at lower dosages or sublingual sprays.
I really hope it gets better for you. I know how you feel - I had clear skin, and now I look like I'm an awkward 16 year old again and even missed work for a couple of days because I was so upset and embarrassed.
I got cystic acne too, worse than anything I'd ever experienced. I had no warning it was from the b12 so I acted too late, now my face is ruined and my life is no longer really happy. I keep to the house mostly and don't move my face much anymore.
I would be interested to know if you have any other deficiencies? Potassium? Do you have high blood sugar? Thirsty all the time?
I couldn't diagnose anything but I had terrible acne too with b12. I don't know what caused it. My first doctor put me on high dose methylcobalamin sublinguals. The acne and other severe side effects drove me to stop the b12, and I developed nerve damage.
I was eventually diagnosed with celiac disease, bacterial overgrowth, prediabetes, and hashimotos by a different doctor. He put me on cyanocobalamin shots, and the acne was minimal, not at all cystic.
I don't know what caused the acne nor why I can tolerate b12 better now. Perhaps it is the form (methyl vs cyano)? Perhaps I've improved other deficiencies or decreased inflammation?
The acne may level out after some time on the b12, but honestly my scarring will last a lifetime so I would rather have gone lower in b12 dose personally.
I tried all sorts of creams for the acne, antibiotic cream may help.
I'm sorry I dont have specific information. Perhaps this will give you some leads.
One other thought- all b vitamins seem to cause acne. Biotin is a b vitamin taken for hair, skin, and nails. There are plenty of reviews on YouTube where women talk about biotin acne and how they deal with it.
Thanks Allyson for putting other things in my mind i was also not aware of these acne that these are because of b12 but really i came to know yesterday here on this community only from several posts that acne may occurs due to b12.
but i am really confused about my increasing Hemoglobin level. As i described earlier.
I have been getting b12 jabs for over 5 years and my MCH is still above range. I think it may be to do with Folates in my case. I don't think you mentioned folate levels but it is important to keep these balanced with b12 as they work together.
Yes Sandy, you are correct they should be in balance but somewhere I read that if MCHC% is high then you have b12 low but as of now b12 is OK..however while typing this I feel tingling in my fingers ...
I think whether you get cystic acne may depend on the type of B12. For me, hydroxocobalamin gives me a couple of zits if I inject it or use a sublingual. If I take a methyl sublingual or inject cyano, I don't get the spots. So if you are able to switch to a different form of B12 you might be able to avoid the acne.
If b12 will increase then hb will increase, b12 along with iron and folic acid makes haemoglobin.
I’m 39 and haven’t had a breakout in decades but when I got my loading doses I got acne. It did clear up, and it gave me a great excuse to get myself a fancy face mask from Lush and have a pamper day 😊
