Hi fbirder

Some people take Pregaday - but do not even consider them if you don't need iron.

5mg folic acid is prescribed where someone is folate deficient to rectify the deficiency.

RDA for folate is much lower and you can actually get it quite easily as 400 mcg tablets at chemists and at supermarkets.

In europe the recommended upper daily limit for folic acid is around 800-1000mcg.

I get either 400 mcg or 800 mcg over the counter folic acid and take either 4x or 2x in the morning and evening for a total of 3.2 mg. any more than this and I get thumping in my ears.

Ideally distributing the pills across the day provides me a more constant supply.

Your folate level needs to be in the 17-20 range to make the B12 active otherwise it is of no use to you , and your body just excretes it.

You can source 5mg dosage from amazon if your levels are low take one 5mg daily .
