Self injecting b12 uk

So after months and months of feeling dreadful and being fully aware myself I need b12. My doctor is still not listening as I am in range at 180. I have bad symptoms that are getting worse.

I have made the decision to self inject.

I've looked on several overseas websites but am unsure as to which b12 product to buy for injecting.

Would someone please be kind enough to point me in the right direction. Pm only as don't want anyone getting in trouble. Many many thanks

Here's a copy of the answer I gave just two days ago....

I get my B12 from amazon.de - amazon.de/dp/B009M3TRQ4... - the site is very similar to amazon.uk, so if you're familiar with that navigation is fairly easy. Otherwise you can amazon.de open in one window and google translate in the other.

I get my syringes, needles and wipes from amazon.uk:

Green needles to draw the solution up into the syringe - amazon.co.uk/gp/product...

Blue needles for the actual injection - amazon.co.uk/gp/product...

2ml syringes - amazon.co.uk/gp/product...

Sterile wipes - amazon.co.uk/gp/product...

I find the ampoules aren't scored (or aren't well scored) so I use these to open them - sepha.com/en/products/v...

Thank you so much. How brilliant and easy to add to basket.

Is this in the same form that the doctors give by injection?

I am a tad nervous about injecting so any hints and tips welcomed. I have watched some YouTube clips so have an idea but once I'm faced with doing it, fear may come in!

Thank you again so much for your helpful reply.

when injecting after put the needle in draw up a little with the needle to ensure you have not hit a vein (you will see blood drawn up) then administer if not in a vein.

The links to Amazon UK don't seem to want to work. What size needles do I need please? For drawing up and the actual injection.

Many thanks again

Damn! Obviously cut 'n' paste doesn't work for long hyperlinks.

Syringes - amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00...

Green needles for sucking the stuff out of the ampoules - amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00...

Blue needles for injecting - amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00...

Ampoules opener - sepha.com/en/products/view/...

The hydroxocobalamin is the same stuff that you'll get from the doctor.

When I was having my loading doses I told the practise nurse that I was planning on self-injecting. So she showed me how to prepare the injection, then got me to inject myself. I did the next two loading doses myself with her watching.

Hi fbirder

some of the links you have posted don't seem to work, they come up with 404 page not found :(

The first one works for the ampoules but not the others.

All working fine for me - in the second post.

Hello fbirder, I have been trying to buy the needles etc from the places you refer to but it says these pages do not exist. Are there any more up to date references I could use please?

Thank you that's fantastic!

Make sure you buy the active form of b12 ,methylcobalamin rather than the inactive form , hydroxycobalamin .

wally10 profile image
wally10

Thank you. Where do you get your methylcobalamin from please?

fbirder profile image
fbirder in reply to wally10

I've not been able to find anywhere that does methylcobalamin for injection. At least, not any site that I would trust.

Thank you all so much!

Bit worried about the vein thing. Where do most people inject? I was going to do thigh.

fbirder profile image
fbirder in reply to wally10

Yup. The thigh muscle is nice and big and easy to reach.

Here's a pic showing the area that I use. - frankhollis.com/temp/Thigh%... - the rectus femoris. If you're sitting down and lift your thigh you should be able to feel (and/or see) that muscle working. It's good to find a decent spot while it is working, but to inject while it's relaxed.

I don't worry about injecting into a vein. Muscle tissue tends to be full of very small blood vessels (have a look at a piece of steak - you won't be able to see the blood vessels, although there's plenty of blood in there).

Most of the time when I inject I can't even see the hole to put a plaster on, there's s little bleeding. Only once have I had actual blobs of blood, suggesting I went through a vein. But it's much more likely that the needle went through a vein on its way towards the site of deposition.

Hi,

If you’re still looking, I get from a Dr in Brighton.

They sell self injection kit and Methylcolbalamin online as well as injections in the clinic. Site is skinbrighton.co.uk/b12-inje...

I get the 5mg but they also sell 1mg. You complete a form and then the doctor contacts you to make sure it’s suitable. Hope that helps
