I have just come across a vitamin B complex supplement that includes intrinsic factor(porcine) Has anyone heard of this? And would it really help in the absorbtion of B12? It sounds too good to be true. Woud be interested to hear any information.

There is a discussion about IF added tablets on the old PAS forum, but it may not link if I put the link here (if it does not work try using the search option, put in pig-derived Intrinsic Factor)

Any way the main thing that came up is that its or plant based or pig based and to much IF added inhibits absorption of CBI, can cause stomach cramps..not enough research etc

Thank-you Marre.
Porcine is intrinsic factor from pigs.
My understanding of IF is that it has a specific receptor in the ilium. From my interpretation of what if read in the BMJ article, this receptor is unique to an individual.
I've always wondered why IF was not available in pill form if it is a protein.
