Had a funny turn tonight. My head suddenly felt all strange and I had a pain in my ear and neck all night. It really shuck me up and started to shake. It's weird it happen a while ago when I was in work and I had to sit on the floor. Am just wondering if it's a sudden drop in blood sugar. I feel fine now but scared if it happens again.

This happened to me too a lot when I was first diagnosed with aneamia, low b12 and vitamin d. After that it was happening on and off and I had no idea what it was so worried all day about it, whilst worrying it just got worse. My head and ears would feel full and pressure like they'll explode! Then I found this website and saw a lot of others are complaint of the same symptoms. Turns out its anxiety? I hate it and unfortunately can't control it. I was doing fine for a couple of weeks when it totally disappeared and since I strted my period a few days ago, it's all started again

Am due on. It's hard to explain and I know worrying will make it worse. I thought it was a seizure. Looking stuff up just makes things worse. I thought I has a brain tumour bit think would know that by now. The strange feeling only lasts a few seconds and it prob won't happen now for a while. It's been going on for about 5 years. It feels like a wave in your head. Have been really stressed with work and Christmas

Sorry to hear that you are both plagued by anxiety - I suffer(ed) from pre-menstral anxiety though didn't quite take the same form as you are describing. However, I find that if I keep my B12 levels high then the anxiety is much less and hence much easier to deal with. I personally have found that meditation has really helped me to manage my response to anxiety attacks so that I don't get caught up in a feedback loop - mindfulness meditation - though it doesn't work for everyone. The real trick is recognising that it is anxiety and not trying to drive yourself made trying to figure out what it is that you are feeling anxious about - particularly if it is related to hormones.

Mindfulness: a practical guide to finding peace in a frantic world -Mark Williams and Danny Penman is a book I found interesting - came with a CD of short meditations and sometimes go back to them if life is getting a bit much for me but really keeping the B12 high means that I notice I get a bit more anxious but nothing like I was before.

The bit of the brain that deals with fear is rather primitive so tends to try and kick you into action by sending you images of fear to get you to respond - which is okay if you need to run away from a sabre tooth tiger but not very helpful if its stress (because the usual warning is a thought of death as a way out :)) and even less helpful when its a result of some hormone kicking something else. My personal theory is that this gets worse during B12 deficiency because processes in the brain that would dampen things down aren't working and it just becomes a huge feedback loop.

Hope you both find a solution.
