Hi,
If you take your (prescription) B12 ampoules with you (in suitcase, not hand bag), and have a letter from your UK GP saying you need B12 injections (costs £30,-) then you just make an appointment with a nurse/ clinic in France to have them doing it for you (you have to pay; usually something like 15,- euros).
That is how it worked for my Daughter when she was in France for a year. Ideally the letter is also translated in French..and signed by your GP. All a bit of a palaver I know, much better to learn to self inject!
Kind regards,
Marre.
Thank you, I could self inject as my son has been type 1 diabetic since 3 yea rsold , did not know you could self inject as my GP/Nurse keeps log when I am due next jab?
You most probably need to learn how to inject B12 in a muscle (IM), assume your son's injections are sub cutain? Ask your GP/ nurse to teach you, you can keep your own log, that should not be a problem, and it gives you freedom, saves you a lot of time and NHS money if you learn to self inject.
Actually you can get B12 from the pharmacist in France without prescription - have a French friend who couldn't believe how difficult it was to get the shots here in the UK. I think the pharamacists are actually able to give you the shots.
Hope you enjoy your holiday.
I got prescription for 6 months from my doctor. took it with me to Spain and booked private doctor to administer cost 6euro each injection.
