Smallest in length or diameter of needle? The g reference denotes needle diameter and the higher the number the thinner the needle so of those the 25g ones are the thickest needles and the 30g the thinnest. Then you have a choice of 8mm, 12.7mm or 16mm lengths. 0.5 inches is the same as 12.7mm.

BD Micro-Fine+ 0.5ml Insulin Syringe, 0.30mm (30G) 8mm x 100

So Engels would you say this is smallest and thinnest?

Yes, but it only holds 0.5ml. That's ok if that's all you're planning to inject at a time.

I had a brief flirtation with subcutaneous injections but didn't like those insulin all in one needles/syringes at all. There is very little spare capacity so, for example, if you are trying to get 1ml of B12 into a 1ml syringe then you have to be very careful as if you get any air in the syringe the B12 won't fit so you have to mess about getting rid of the air to load the rest. If I were to try sc injections again I would go for a much bigger syringe and separate needle e.g.

Hi everyone

I've just ordered some B12 Depot Hevert 50 Amp. 0.958 mg 50 Ampullen (Hevert-Arzneimittel GmbH & Co KG) vials from goldpharma which hold 2ml of fluid. I'm planning to inject sub-q. I was thinking a 3ml syringe but I'm not sure what length needle to draw all the fluid from the vial. Any ideas?

Thanks

Linda

I use a 2ml syringe to suck up 2 ml liquid with 21 G (green) needle, then inject IM with 23 G (Blue) needle:

Those BD 2ml syringes actually hold 2.5ml so work well for 2ml injections. I use the same 23g blue needle but I don't bother using a different needle to load the syringe i.e. I do the whole thing with just one needle, taking care not to blunt it on the sides or bottom of the ampoule.

Just realised that you're going to inject sc and my comment was for im. You can still use the BD 2ml syringe but you will needle an sc needle such as I suggested earlier in the thread.

I have very little fat on my legs do you think an insulin needle would make it into my muscle? .. I've already purchased 200 of them because I got a discount .. someone told me to get 0.5ml :\ .. also should people with pernicious anemia only inject intramuscular or can they do it in the fat also?
