Active B12 Test - Do I need to fast

Hi

I am due to have an active B12 test, Do I need to fast before or can I eat and drink as normal?

I would fast, just to be on the safe side. Drink lots though so you don't get dehydrated.

Thanks hamster, I have another question posted, do you happen to know the answer to it, I have rang St. Thomas phlebotomy dept. twice but got put through to voice options then got cut off.

I'm sorry, I have no idea. Although the instructions I have say the following:

"Serum may be shipped ambient (maximum 16 hours in transit), at +2-8°C (wet ice) - stable for up to three days, or frozen (dry ice)."

So seems to suggest it can just be room temp as long as it gets to them quickly?

Yes I have the same instructions but as I am posting the sample it may take longer than the 16 hours, just hope the nurse knows what to do.
