In an attempt to reduce protein and fat interactions with levodopa absorption, I increased carbohydrates. What i thought was levodopa wearing off, turned out to be poly neuropathy aggravated by increased blood sugar. I noticed my feet getting cold after eating and googled feet getting cold after eating, and the ‘sugar’ filled in because it is a common symptom for neuropathy. From there I found articles about blood sugar potentially being elevated with levodopa. Has anyone else experienced this? Eating less sugar seems to be helping.
Do your feet get cold after eating...sugar? - Cure Parkinson's
Do your feet get cold after eating...sugar?
I have neuropathy and find no correlation...but I follow with great interest+
Have you been checked for diabetes?
Sorry, I don't take levodopa. I take Kapikachu , Indian Raw Mucuna, a natural dopa
Define "feet." Toes only, or other parts? Bounce back after a little while, or persist for hours? Do you have any bp issues or take any bp meds, do you have diabetes or pre-diabetic? What is your weight? Do you drink caffeinated coffee, how much?
Toes to mid foot, bounce back usually in about 45minutes, usually low bp, but spikes sometimes, not diabetic, weight 115 pounds, no caffeine. I am seeing increased research in diabetic and Parkinson’s link. Elevated blood sugar listed as possibly associated with disease and levodopa in studies.
Ruled out Reynauds, have you?
Also possibly, if not Reynaud's, is simple atherosclerosis or arteriosclerosis or some sort of stuck-on clots or other blockages in those very small or hardened arteries. I'd see a doctor.
Don't reduce your protein intake, only excessive intake should be avoided. the rest of your symptoms is unclear, you should go to a GP,
