Azilect withdrawal

I was on Azilect for five years with a tyramine free diet no side effects. New Neurologist took me off it saying the trials had not shown good results

I had been coping well with Stalevo x 5 times a day until an extremely stressful yr due to death threats by my daughter's estranged husband on my life my daughter's life & all our grandchildren

my neuro put me back on Azilect again along with madopar rapid, sinemet CR & stalevo x5 daily doses

After 2 months of 1 mg daily dose of azelect

I started having severer side effects

Daytime falling asleep anytime anywhere, a hacking cough, nitely dry mouth, throat & nose constantly disturbing my sleeping, lack of appetite & hallucinations

When I tried to contact my neuro a week later I received a phone call saying no one else had complained

In desperation I rang my pharmacist about stopping my single dose of Azilect she told me to cut the 1 mg in half for a week & then a 1/4 of a tablet for another week

Feeling all on my own.

I am ceasing all Meds except 5 x Stalevo daily doses

9 We are all on our own. I change my meds all the time with some good and some bad results. But i got it right. We are all differant and all the doctors are doing is making their best guess.

I was having extreme depression and sadness every night. I stopped all my meds and restarted 1 at a time and azilect was the last one i was going to resume but i noticed that my nightly problem was gone so i did not resume. I had been on azilect for 9 years.

Daytime falling asleep anytime anywhere, dry mouth, hallucinations are all symptoms of PD progression or exacerbation attributable to the increased stress you are under. The most important thing you can do is to take action to relieve that stress. There should be a restraining order in place against that estranged husband.

We have been in & out of the court system for 9 months

Very slowly making limited progress

I'm starting Qigong classes today feeling more positive

Great to have a forum where we can talk rather than internalising
