Can anyone taking Azilect 1 per day remember how long it was before it took effect, positive or negative. I precise that I take 6 Madopar 125 every 2 1/2 hours between 7 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. and my ON time is only around 30/45 mn during each 2 1/2 h period.
I also use a Neupro 8 mg patch daily. I have started taking Azilect this morning with the hope it will reduce my OFF time.
I take Azilect 1 mg and I think it is extending the Sinemet time but if I remember correctly it was about 3 weeks before I noticed any difference and the difference is not what I would call remarkable. The Azilect is suppose to have neuro-protective properties which should slow the progression of the disease and it is for that reason alone that I'm sticking to it.

Hi ecurb. You are looking in the wrong direction. Medication can do nothing to get rid of your Pd symptoms. That's right! Medication only tries to deal with a couple of the symptoms.

I am not selling anything, other than a book, which tells you exactly what I did. That is a once off minimal cost. The rest you have to do for yourself and that is the only way you will come right.

Yes I know none of the medication I am taking or have taken since 2001 can rid me permanently of any of my symptoms, but some are better than others when it comes to reducing the bad affects of these symptoms. It would seem however that a majority of them aggravate our symptoms, but to distinguish the good from the bad, one has to try them since what is helpful for one person can be harmful for another. This is why I have decided to try Azilect which could shorten (it does for some) my OFF time which is continually becoming stronger and forces me to lie down several times in a day to get some relief.
However I must take the time to read up on your method. Thank you for making it available.

I was given Azilect following diagnosis but this was not to treat the symptoms but to slow the development of PD. My understanding is that it doesn't affect the On/Off time
Ditto... I have had no progression but still have the same minor symptoms. I take Carbidopa-Levodopa twice a day to lesson them. I am 72 and working and active.
I agree with you Rod. Azilect is a protector I dont take any PD meds so have no on/off time for it to help with.

Great exchange of ideas all you folk out there I personally had a fantastic response to Azilect within several days I noticed a dramatic improvement in my on times in fact I didn't have any off times for about two weeks after that time they were a lot less severe hope you get simalar response

Thanks @Sunnysky for a very positive reply. In fact the other replies I've received are more on the positive side also... so I can hope for a good result one to 4 weeks from now. I am on my second day and am only taking half a tablet so I don't expect things to happen overnight , intend increasing to 1 full tablet in 2 more days, fingers crossed.
