Hi Shirleyam. I took selegiline for 8 years, on its own. During those 8 years I also did fast walking for 1 hour, 3 times a week. At the end of those 8 years I was able to come off the medication, but have continued the walking ever since and have lived a normal life for the past 14 years and have not needed to see a neurologist either since 2002. Isn't that what everybody would like to do?

Some doctors will say that because there is no cure for Pd then I must have been misdiagnosed, but I wasn't. 4 neurologists, who have thoroughly examined me, all confirm that I do have Pd. Dr Norman Doidge, who wrote the book, "The Brain's Way of Healing", also came all the way from Canada to South Africa to check that I do in fact have Pd. He spent a whole day examining my medical records in my GP's office and satisfied himself that my claims made in my book, "Reverse Parkinson's Disease" are correct. He then spoke to two of my neurologists and confirmed my diagnosis with them. Having done all that, he went all over South Africa with me and spoke to a fair number of people who I claim to have helped, without me being present at the interviews. How much more do I need to do to prove that I do have Pd, and that I have managed to overcome most of the effects of the Pd and have lived a normal life since 2002.

I am now 82 years of age and last Saturday I entered a Parkrun 5 kilometre race against 328 other people, who mainly ran the 5 kilometres. I came 238th and beat 90 other people, all younger than myself and most of whom ran, while I only walked. I was the oldest person in the race and I still have Pd. Should we all not make an effort to see what we can all do to beat Pd?

I am not telling you all this to brag. I want you all to know what it is possible to do, when you have Pd. Yes! I know that we are not all the same and some people have a different form of Pd. But I have been travelling all over the world over the last 18 months, speaking to thousands of people with Pd and showing them how to walk normally, even though they thought they weren't able to do so. I only met 3 people who were not able to walk properly, one of whom could not even stand up on his own legs, so how could he walk. The other two just could not understand what I meant when I said 'concentrate' on your walking. So out of over 5000 people I have physically met, half of whom had Pd, only 3 of them could not do 'conscious walking'. So they were all able to start to do fast walking and possibly get to the point where they no longer need any medication either. It took me eight years to do that, but during all that time, I was getting better, not worse!

I don't believe that nobody else is able to do what I do, other than if they don't believe a word of what I say or they have some other problem that prevents them from walking. It is your choice what you believe and it is your choice if you cant be bothered to do fast walking to help yourself. I respect that!

Why not give it a go?

Rytary and Azilect . That is what I take in the morning with no sugar apple sauce. The Azilect is 10mg. only once a day. Rytary 245 mg. taken at 6 am 11 am 4 pm and finally 9 pm. No adverse problems. Good luck. Ask your doctor or your local pharmacist if there is any conflict. Also, read carefully the literature that comes with your medications.
