I was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis a couple years ago. I was started on PERT. Just recently, last month my GI doctor told me to get my hemoglobin A1C checked and it was in diabetic range. My GI doctor recommended to see an endocrinologist who has started insulin therapy. Advice from any body in the group having experience with insulin treatment for diabetes in this condition is requested.

Diabetes and chronic pancreatitis

Back in 2017 I was hospitalised for 7 months because of severe pancreatitis. During that time I developed type 3 (related to pancreas) diabetes and put on daily insulin and Metformin. My advice I to stick to a diet of protein and vegetables and ensure your blood sugar levels are under 10. You may be able to reduce or even reverse your dependency on insulin.
I really like your response. In regard to your lifestyle of food choices, do you have a regimen that you follow? I truly believe food is medicine, if you take care of your body, your body will take care of you! I was diagnosed w/ pancreatitis in June 2024 and now as of last week my HbA1C test results placed me in the pre-diabetes (5.7) range. So, any advice you can provide will be helpful. One last thing, I forgot to mention, I live a plant based lifestyle, not that it matters, but I just wanted to bring that to your attention as well. Thanks in advance!
