My name is Amie and I am new to the group. I was just diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis in January. So far it has been a very painful, scary and frustrating experience! I never had any symptoms up until January and have been in horrendous pain ever since. Doctors in the hospital treated me like I was just trying to get pain medication. I finally on my last er visit got an endoscopy and my pancreas is in pretty bad shape. They said that my pancreas may need to be totally removed.
I met with a surgeon at university of Miami medical center and he is presenting my case at the pancreas board meeting today. I find out on the 12th what surgery they have decided on.
I am very nervous about all of this .
I am happy I found this forum where I can get information and hear what others have gone through😀

I’m so sad you’re part of our group but I’m glad you’re getting a plan to help you out. I’m honestly surprised you were able to get referred to surgery so quickly. I hope it helps in relieving the pain.
Thank you! Yes, I was very lucky to get connected with surgeons at University of Miami. For some reason they were very interested in my case. I was also fortunate enough to get hooked up with a pain management specialist, it has helped a little, but not much. I just need a break from this pain!!!
I am so glad I found this forum! Already finding lots of information. I appreciate your reply and hope to meet many others!!!
Hi Amie..I am also fairly new to this support group and I'm glad you found it as I did.. the group have been so supportive and helpful... I'm so sorry u are in so much pain and awful the hospital thought you were just trying to get pain medication but thank goodness they have finally found the problem and u are waiting to find the way forward... I am still trying to get them to believe I have cp and not depression ! I still have problems believing that they can't see it... losing 17kgz being in chronic pain when eating having low lipase and amylase levels etc... I truly hope they can come up with a way to help your pain.. psd keep us updated as to what surgery they decide on.. xx
