my name is Joe (34) . I was diagnosed with fatty enlarged liver I’m 2020. Changed my lifestyle and apparently have reversed it (according to my Hepatologist). I now have persistent pain in my left upper abdomen. I was worried it could be my pancreas having been affected by my liver issues . I want to my Hepa and got a clear abdominal CT scan and fibroscan. Afterwards I spent some more money with a gastroenterologist. I got an abdominal mri , an upper endoscopy and a fecal elastase test. All came back normal with no remarkable issues. My pain in the LUQ and middle back is extremely real and I am losing hope with getting help . Any advice would be appreciated. Feeling low . ❤️ thanks 🙏

Hi Joe 👋 I'm sorry you're experiencing so much pain. Pancreatitis can be difficult to diagnose. Have you considered an Endoscopic Ultrasound? That is one of the most effective ways to determine if there is any inflammation or scarring on your pancreas. Here's more information regarding diagnosing pancreatitis: mission-cure.org/diagnosis/

In the left sidebar, there's also a resource tab that may be helpful to you. I hope you find answers soon. 💙

This is so frustrating, why wouldn’t the doctors explore this option with me ?

Hello,

Just an update . I had my appointment with the Gastro regarding my request for an endoscopic ultrasound. I literally had to raise my voice in order to get a timely appointment. The CA tried to schedule me a month out just to consult , after all the money I’ve spent with this practice on previous bloodwork and imaging including a normal endoscopy. After apologizing to the staff and the doctor for my pain induced (and uncalled for ) rudeness, he proceeded to explain that he understands ny frustration. He also added that he would put in a request through the insurance company to see if they would approve but his hopes were low . I asked for the billing dept number so I can gauge out of pocket costs . Google says it ranges between 3-5k. God I hope it’s not that much . The system is truly upside down . When an otherwise healthy person can’t get someone to look into real pain because a lack of preexisting conditions or discoveries . My faith in doctors is pretty low right now 😞
