Is your son taking creon with his meals? This is an enzyme which helps to digest the food-a job the Pancreas usually does. If i dont take my creon, i suffer pain, discomfort and bloating.

yes he takes it at every meal that is what is so worrying. He is having a two week break from the chemo to see if pain subsides if not hospital will do further tests.

My husband had severe ulcer like pains after his whipples operation. He was taking an acid inhibitor, 'omeprazole' as well as creon. The pains stopped when he stopped taking both. Later, he was given a better combination of esomeprazole, 'Nexium' and creon which worked for him. Check out the combination of drugs your son is being given your GP as well as the pancreatic cancer liason team at your hospital. Sometimes increasing the amount of creon can help depending on the fat content of the meals. Good Luck.

Thanks for suggestion I will tell my son to ask oncologist at his next appointment, he does take a lot of drugs as besides the pancreatic cancer he had a heart attack two years ago so has drugs for that as well.

My sister who had pancreatic cancer used to have a lot of pain and ulceration in her stomach she tried flat lemonade which seemed to help and camamile tea and honet.Dont know if they would work for you but its worth a try. They may be just old wives tales but who knows?

He is having a ct scan next week and will get result a few days later, he can only eat small amounts and has lost a stone in weight over the last couple of weeks so its a worrying time. He and his wife do not look on the internet as there is so much bad stuff about pancreatic cancer so I do the research for them. Thanks for any info that might help. Rosie.
