Hi first post here. My wife of 38 years who is 67 years old had some slightly elevated liver panels and they asked you to do an ultrasound. We went in to the doctor for the results yesterday. He said they saw a small mass on both her liver and on her pancreas. He referred us to an MRI and possible biopsy. As I understand it, if there still still a concern after reviewing the MRI they will do an MRI guided biopsy. I’m not clear of the biopsy will be done the same day or scheduled at a later date. Couple of questions for those here with much more knowledge that I. Could the MRI alone indicate no cancer and they send us in our way? Would they do the biopsy right there in then if they are still concerned after reviewing the MRI? From what I read online they were both false positives and negatives to these biopsies. Should we travel to a teaching hospital like Ucla for the MRI and/or the biopsy? Or would it be sufficient to just send the results To a place like that for a second opinion? Finally, since there is a spot on both the liver and pancreas, can I assume the odds of both being benign are not great Because of the added possibility that the spot of the liver is the spread of the pancreatic cancer? All scary stuff. Thanks in advance for any help.
