suspected pc but no biopsy yet?

Hello I've joined here to get some advice for my mother in law and my partner. we're stuck in limbo and don't know whether to expect the worse.

my mother in law had a scan as she was getting tummy pains nausea and generally feeling off like a virus and as she's had a heart op 5 months ago they scanned her. they found a mass between her pancreas and liver. we weren't there last Friday when she saw the specialist but she rang my partner to say she had pancreatic cancer we were devastated. I asked if it's definitely cancer then she back tracked and said no it wasn't definite until they've done a biopsy but they said the scan showed it could be....we're so confused as we don't know if the consultant knows just by looking at the scan that it's definitely PC or is there a change it could not be and something operable and not cancer? thank you

I don’t have any experience with this but I would try and wait for the biopsy and have you or your partner go with her next time to a dr appt and get more info like do they think it’s spread if it is cancer? Because if it hasn’t spread and they can operate and remove the tumor that is the only cure as of right now for pc. I hope everything works out for you. I think they have a nurses line on here you should contact them they are very helpful in these situations.

If you are in the UK there is a Facebook group for those who have had the whipple op for masses or cancer of the pancreas. Some of the group actually had benign cysts. It’s really best to wait for blood tests and biopsies Pancreatic Cancer UK have very helpful nurses who you can speak to on the phone or email for advice pre and post any diagnosis They were very helpful pre diagnosis for me. I had an incidental finding of a pancreatic mass from an ultrasound
