Whipple 6/23/17

I had a Whipple procedure on June 23, 2017 because of a tumor at the head of my pancreas and I'm wondering how long it takes to when you feel your energy coming back. It's really only been three weeks but I feel tired all the time.

Wow keidor.

Firstly congrats to you for being brave enough to go through that whipped procedure I take my hat off and bow graciously to you.

And from what I have read which is a fair bit , it takes some months to regain your energy and part of this would be down to the foods and enzymes you are putting into yourself ?

But hey you done it and you've won it and that makes me smile well done you.

By the way could you tell me what tests you went through to find it and how it was found and diagnosed in the end please ?

Good on you and god bless x

I had 3 hours of severe pain above my stomach area or just below rip cage and DID NOT go to emergency. Then I went to GP a few days later and the checked my blood levels for protease, amalaze and lipase and the blood test came back way out of whack. That started the process. Endoscopic procedure by a specialist, which lead to more check points to determine if I could qualify for the Whipple and then I had the Whipple 6/23/17.

All margins are clear and 4 out of 20 lymph nodes came back positive so I'm getting 7.5 months of chemo/radiation even if I would have had zero lymph nodes they would have recommended the treatments to be safe

I am 9 weeks post whipple procedure and I unfortunately had a few complications. My recovery is slow and my digestive system is being very stubborn. I get spasms after eating and struggle going the loo. It's a viscous circle as I have a poor appetite as I know the suffering I have to bare! But my consultant says the more protein I can eat the quicker I will heal. Nightmare! But at least the cancer was operable and hopefully it won't return.

Anyone else suffering like me

I misspoke. I'm 6 weeks out. My procedure was June 23rd 2017. Brain cramp. Are you getting chemo & or radiation ?

I'm 8 weeks and doing pretty well for th most part.........HOWEVER....I was just complaining to my wife that I have an almost constant pain in my admomen area in the center of my rib cage. I literally just said to her I need to eat but don't want to (I do of course) because a little while after I get a constant mild to medium spasm. I also have had a few times it got crazy intense. Have you experienced that?

Do you lose weight? And if so are you gaining back. I dropped 25 pounds and am still down the 25. Sorry to hear you are struggling.
