Hello,
welcome to the forum, it's still getting started so there's not many people on here yet, and as an administrator I'm afraid I can't help with your question.
In the meantime you may want to try our free-phone helpline. The number is:

I've had this kind of pain for about 50 years and 3 years ago I weby on a pain management course. They made it so much easier to say no to my family and help me to get a life. I still have pain but my flare ups happen because I over do. Ask your GP if there is a course near you.
I have only just (today!) joined this forum, so I don't know if you have already said where your pain is. It may be my comments aren't helpful to you. However, I'll continue in case it helps someone else! Have you tried "pain patches"? (Like HRT patches but with a derivative of morphine in them). They come in different strenghts so your GP can increase them a bit at a time. They are partucularly effective because you get a measured dose hourly that continues over 24 hours. So you don't wake up in the morning with no medication left in your system and have to wait for the effect of your morning tablets to kick in! I was on a vast cocktail of drugs and regular cortisone injections for pain via my pain consultant for a back condition from 1995. However, since starting the patches I have removed the other drugs and haven't had a cortisine injection for 18 months. I don't know if they would work for your kind of pain, since they aren't as effective for my hip pain. I also for many years have followed a daily regime of lying down for an hour after being up for 1 or 2 hours. That seems to let my back relax and stretch to take the pressure off my discs. I've always thought it was all my own idea to do this and part if pacing myself. However, I recently read online that a practitioner of the Alexander Technique advised this. I often have to use my zimmer to walk to my bed to lie down if I've been very busy, but after an hour lying flat am able to get up and carry on with housework. Just sitting for an hour (no less than an hour) may be just as useful, but I find that sitting at any time makes my back worse, so I don't sit down at all!! Ever!! When I was working, as an Office Manager, my employer was very helpful and let me work standing or lie on my office floor and work there at the hour resting points! I realise that wouldn't be possible for all jobs!
Apologies to you if this isn't helpful and seems long winded. I have Buprenorphine patches but there are other makes. I hope you can get some help for your pain, from someone else's suggestions if not mine!
Hi, I suffer bad neuropathic pain and I've tried lots of meds but the best thing I have found is bathing in Pink Himalayan Salt, it contains lots of minerals eg Magnesium! I recommend giving it a try? It works for me.
All the best
Steve
Hi there! Sorry to hear of your struggles. I tried Buprenorphine but my body just wanted to expell the drug and I only managed it for two days. Had severe sickness and migraine. I understand everyone is different so it may very well work for you. However, I have found the fentanyl patch to be effective. It is a different morphine derivative. Fortunately my pain does not effect my mobility, but perhaps it can help you? I hope this helps xx
thanks like you i tried Buprenorphine same result as you, and have tried patches to no avail. like i said ive tried everything. can i take this opportunity to thank all those who have answered my request, makes you realise there are many others with similar pains and ills.
I have also suffered chronic pain for 12 years.
It started with a bone infection after a hip replacement.
9 hip surgeries later, I have no hip joint at all,but still chronic pain.
I have severely restricted mobility too!
I take oxycodone and Gabapentin,as well as amitryptylene.
I have been to 2 pain clinics, and currently am waiting assessment for spinal cord stimulation.
I just want you to know you're not alone.
Nobody understands how deeply pain affects your life, your personality, your hopes and dreams.
Life becomes focused entirely on pain.
It controls.
It wins.
I'll let you know how the stimulation goes!
Keep on fighting, although you may not feel its worth it, keep on!
read this web page special attention to DR Sarah Smiths paper arachnoiditis.co.uk this site is full off us chronic servere pain suffers, it might help you. As it's a group of people who live with pain 24/7 no cure top to toe, theirs laughs and advise. try it. Sue
Hi, Like u I've got neuropathic pain so drugs are not ideal. The most useful relaxation techniques I found are a set of relaxation CD's i bought years ago but don't seem to be available any more. However, I do think an effective relaxation strategy is essential, find one that works for you, I'm sure your local library will get in any amount of cd's or books you want to try. I'm also going to try EMDR to see if it can help break some of the deeper stress responses, i will post something about it either way once I've tried it.
thanks for yr reply ive got tapes and cd's. if you want more ask yr local physio or pain clinic they will have some, or tell you where to get some more. ive started to except the pain and try to ignore it, its the new pain's that are the problem......take care
Have you tried buprenorphine in oral form?
