I had 2 spinal surgeries 11/12 years ago due to a prolapsed disc L4/5 they tried to stabilise the disc and then had the disc removed asI had increased pain not only in my back but down the back of my leg right up to the big toe also. Now for a couple of months my side flank has been hurting under where my surgery site was and the outside of my leg all the way down to my foot so the underside and right-side of my leg is so painful.
I’ve heard that sometimes the discs either side of a spinal surgery can cause issues I’m hoping it’ll pass but it’s not done so yet.

Helo. Sorry about your recent problem. I guess the 2nd surgery you had was spinal fusion with screws and rods. If so, I suggest you do CT scan or MRI to check the hardwares to see if they are still intact
hi DonutEater . Just a quick question. In regards to your side flank pain, have you spoke to your GP? I’ve had one of my friends who had a renal calculi (kidney stone) which caused similar symptoms to a nerve compression and was also co-incidental with a preceding spine surgery. I just thought to respond to your post with this information.
In regards to your concerns about close segments failing, I would advise you strongly to avoid heavy weights, sudden bending/twists for atleast 4-6 months for your kind of surgery to promote good healing and make sure you have high quality nutrition (prioritise protein) , doing gentle active range of motion (tolerated by pain )and prioritise sleep for the best recovery m. This will minimise any further risks of a failed surgery syndrome . I wish you well with your ongoing recovery.
Hi thanks for your reply I had my last back surgery 12 years ago it’s been very painful these last few weeks I’ll certainly have a chat about it many thanks
