Initially I had a check ECG because of chest pain , it was fine . The gp the felt along sternum /rib joints and they were all very tender so diagnosis was costochondritis.

With me it comes and goes, going through a good spell at the moment.

I ended up in A&E because I had atypical chest pain, but was cleared on all heart fronts. Still had similar pain so went to GP for a follow up check several weeks later - she poked my chest and sternum and diagnosed costochondritis!! Occasionally twinges now, but also have upper back and shoulder problems and headache issues to contend with as well 😕

please ask your Dr to check fora vit B12 deficiency or Pernicious Anaemia which can cause nerve ,bone ,muscle pain.Iron, folate ,red cell magnesium, vit D levels should be checked.

Hi

I have suffered chest/rib pain for about 4 years, I’ve had chest xrays, ecg, heart monitor, Ct scan & ultrasound all back with good results. Still suffering especially rib pain so I went to see an oesopath. She asked me a lot of questions @ said it’s Costochondritis. I went for a few sessions not sure it made any difference so stopped.

I’ve also had full blood count all normal apart from low iron which is now back to normal.

I think it’s a condition drs say you have when they don’t know what else it can be😩

When I started getting pain by my left ribs below breast I had a gp phone appointment , as I had very recently had pericarditis and a pericardial effusion and the pain I was getting felt similar my gp sent me to hospital to either diagnose or rule out pericarditis . I had blood tests , ecgs , chest X-ray . As they were all normal I was sent home and diagnosed with costochondritis . Also because it is painful to touch if I’m examined and anyone presses on my ribs that also points to costochondritis , with cardiac pain it’s not painful to touch as obviously the heart is tucked away inside .

Hello,

I had pain left side of chest and in shoulder blade and arm. Numbness and tingling. Saw physio first and she examined me and when she pressed my rib on the left side the most horrendous pain in one spot. I get so much referred pain in all areas of chest and arm. She made me a gp appointment and again he examined me, pressed the same area and was so painful. He said straight away he thought it was costochondritis. I’ve been on naproxen and anitriptimol. I hate taking medication. He said he had it and it took a year to go. I am now getting regular earache in my left ear and pain in the back of my head that I presume are all related. Got second x ray next week on clavicle.
