Problems with neck causing shoulder and arm pains

I have been back and forwards to the doctors over the past couple of years with a suspected torn rotator cuff in my right shoulder. I had a ultrasound on shoulder 2 months ago and was told my shoulder is fine and I probably have a neck problem which is causing the pain.

Contacted doctors again and was waiting for a call from the specialist last week which got cancelled 5 minutes before the call was meant to take place.

Recieved a letter early this week saying I will be contacted by a specialist in March 2024.

I'm 47 and always done heavy work, currently working for a brewery delivering kegs so probably not helping matters but have no choice to do anything else atm.

I've tried physio but pain seems to get worse and can't continue after afew days, also tried light weight training at home to see if that loosens anything up but ends up the same way so have to stop.

Tried ice packs on neck but doesn't do anything, running out of ideas.

Stopped taking painkillers as its a waste of time, the stronger they are the more drowsy I feel in the mornings which isn't good when I drive most of the day.... never stops the pain or helps me sleep.

Just curious to find out if anyone has gone through something similar and found something that helped them that I haven't tried.

Thanks.

like you mate got pain all over nothing ever helps no matter what I try and doctors just say it`s chronic pain but offer nothing to help apart from physio and it always makes me worse.

Hi, just an observation, surely if your dr. has said possibly a neck problem surely they would do a mri, ct scan of your neck to rule out any problems ie herniated disc etc. just a thought.

Yeah I have asked the same thing. Going to ring them this morning.... not waiting until next March if I can push it.

I used to be great at fixing musculo-skeletal stuff - but quit due to PSP ! A physio may help, but not with you ..... so I'd suggest a Bowen or NST practitioner. As ever some are better than others, more experience, and you need to 'feel good' about the person. Keep asking questions, and best pf luck. TimbowPSP
