Hi just to update my situation I have bern given antibiotic cream for some of my bites but it also turns out I'm borderline iron I have absolutely no energy. Does anyone on here suffer from restless leg syndrome ? Driving me crazy that's why my gp asked for blood and it shows the iron borderline. I still think this is all coming from those nasty bites !!!! Any replies be very much appreciated

My sister has awful restless legs , she finds stretching helps a bit and a walk in evening. She did get meds from gp but only takes them as last resort , usually prescribed for Parkinsons disease but also helps RL

See answer below.

The medication your sister has been given is a dopamine agonist and should not be prescribed for RLS.

Eventually her symptoms will get worse and worse and the doctor will keep increasing the dose and she will end up in serious bother.

Please go to the Restless legs site on HU, to get correct information.

Good luck.

My sister is aware of this issue, she only takes a small dose, not at levels prescribed for Parkinsons and at most takes it once a week. Its is a very difficult condition to manage

There is a Restless legs site on HU, which has some very clever and knowledgeable and even sometimes sympathetic bods.

You, and anyone else suffering from this dreadful affliction can get good advice there. Even better than you will get from most medical people. (Some of these actually give out wrong advice and prescriptions,) which those lovely people on the RLS site have to correct constantly.

Hope to see you there soon.

There are plenty of strategies to cope with RLS. And most people who get correct advice at the start of their symptoms, can be at peace for the rest of their lives.

You mention borderline iron, which may be the cause of your RLS.

If serum ferritin is below 100, then an iron infusion may be an option. Check with your doctor.

PS. We cater for boys as well as girls!!😝💚🤩

I believe sometimes I have restless leg syndrome, though I never talked to a doctor about it. Does the cream help decrease itching and/or pain? I imagine if you go to bed with some itchy bites, sleep might be difficult.

Regarding restless legs try drinking tonic water the quinine in it helps. It works for me.

Hi, I get restless leg syndrome most nights. Usual when in bed before sleep. It’s not good and does irritate. I just natural stretch. Doing that I was hoping it would stop. It does work after a fashion but, I persistently stretch my leg every time it spasms. It’s rare for me to have during the day but it has happened. When it has occurred during the day, it doesn’t last as long as it does at bed time.

I don’t really what my cause is. I wondered if it was long term use of Citalopram (antidepressant).

I don’t know. My iron levels have always been okay. Good enough to give blood every time I go. I have a lot of gnat bites this year. I’m taking antihistamines and cortisol cream. My legs haven’t played up thus far.

Is this all stress related.
